Giverny in November?
I am wondering if Giverny kind of "shuts down" the first part of Nov. Tried a couple of hotels and they are closed from end of Oct. to January. Even though the gardens wouldn't be in bloom, ...are they OPEN? Would it be worth a trip...also what other towns within a couple of hours of Paris would be good that time of year.?...Chartres etc? We've covered most of France in the past, but this time are looking for a couple of places we could go (with a CAR) for about four days closer to Paris. Thanks for any suggestions!

HI
I believe the site closes entirely as of the end of October, but you could check the website.

If the gardens wouldn't be in bloom, I can't figure out why you'd want to see them anyway--brown, leafless branches?
Chartres is a good alternative, as is Fontainebleau and Versailles, each of which has a lot to see besides their gardens.

Monet's house and gardens do indeed close at the end of October, unfortunately. If they were open, I'd go just to see the house again--and the water gardens, which I imagine would still be beautiful and serene.
