getting sine euros before trip or at florence airport?

AAA may not charge a "fee" but that €78 out of a European ATM would cost less than $100 - so it looks like a $15+ fee to me. And the AMEX is even more expensive - <i>only</i> a $12.95 fee, but each € is costing $1.36 on top of that

like Ira said - exchange a small amount of US when you get to the airport if the ATM by some odd coincidence is not working (very unlikely). Euro is more plentiful in Europe than here in the US - in the US you'll pay more for them than in Europe. As for needing to have some in hand before landing - this is the 21st century, you won't be stranded when you land (wasn't there a thread about this last week - or was that about taking two bank ATM cards with you?)

Bank of America will exchange $ to euro if you are a "member" of the bank. So I will excange $50 before leaving. Newark (Liberty International) airport does have an exchange office and I will land in Frankfurt before landing in Florence, but I rather have euro in hand just to play it safe
