Getting news of bus strike in Netherlands
What is a good source of current news (in English) of the current bus strike in Holland? I have Googled it but don't see anything current as of today, only articles from earlier in the week. We are going there next week and would like to take a bus out of Leiden to the coast.

You could try Expatica, http://tinyurl.com/5qjc6g, www.dutchnews.nl or www.radionetherlands.nl
Cuurent situation is that in the Northern provinces the buses must now operate during the rush hour but can strike outside that time. For the rest of the country the strike is continuing. When do you leave? I can try to keep you posted on the situation until then.

I didn't think of that. I imagine it would be quite expensive. We are trying to budget wherever possible, considering the exchange, etc. Do you know if taxis are available at the Leiden train station? Then we would have to get back to the station.

It would be about the same to Katwijk. But remember that lots of people will be wanting taxis due to the lack of buses.
The government is intervening now in the strike - not sure if that is a good thing or not but it is at east movement.

Rebecca, it looks like the strike will end tomorrow. The buses have been running in the rush hours throughout the Netherlands for a few days, and now the government has come up with some money it looks like it is all over.
I actually saw a bus in the middle of the day today which was a shock - I've got so used to there being no buses
I'll keep you posted on whether it actually does end tomorrow or not.

That's so nice of you. I've been following the sources you suggested, Expatica and DutchNews every day. And it does look like it is over. We're really glad about it because now we can meet our Dutch friend and go to the dunes. I can imagine working people really need the bus service and are happier than I am that it's over (if it is).
