Getting from Munich to Berchtesgaden by car?

We are currently planning a family trip to Berchtesgaden (7adults) and we need to know the best way to get from Munich to Berchtesgaden.

If we rent a nine seater van, what extra charges do we need to be aware of on the road ? and what other tips and ideas to you suggest ?

Try Google maps.
Consider 2 vehicles for sanity and flexibility.

Or try a paper map...

IIRC there really is only one direct way - the Autobahn towards Salzburg then south through SE Bavaria. You do not need to be concerned with any extra charges on the road - the Autobahn is not a toll road.

If you have 7 adults with luggage a 9 seater van may not have enough room. Two smaller vehicles will give you more room, more flexibility, more sanity, and likely be no more expensive, perhaps even less if you can arrange a good deal via someone like Kemwel.
