Getting from hotel in San Marco to San Lucia Train Station-Venice

I have been looking at the options for transportation, but I can't find any option that goes from our hotel near San Marco to the San Lucia Train Station. Hopefully I am overlooking something simple!
Any advice?

You have 2 options---a private water taxi for about 60E, and feel like James Bond. Or, a big clumsy water bus[ vaporetto] that will take about :45 and cost you 6.5E each, unless you already have a pass. Lines 1 and 2 both make the run, but line 2 makes fewer stops.

We also stayed close to San Marco and if you happen to have an early train like we did you can pick up the vaporetto at the Rialto Bridge to save time.

Most Venice hotel web sites would have this information--just reverse their arrival instructions.

i would recommend a vaporetto. cheaper and if you sit outside it makes for a nice little good bye to venice at a slow pace.

if you got money to burn baby, then hop on a water taxi !

Depending on where on San Marco your hotel is located, you may opt to take the vaporetto from the Accademia bridge. That's what we did the morning of our departure and it was fine. Can't recall the exact amount, but the cost was nominal. Skinnylizard is right about the nice slow good-bye. The sun was brilliant and we had an enjoyable chat with a couple of high schoolers en route to class, on a Saturday. (gasp) Seriously, though, the vaporetto is the way to go. Best wishes.

If you don't have a lot of luggage, it's a nice walk.

Our train isn't until 1PM so we'll probably save some $ and have a nice slow goodbye! Thanks for all of your responses! I'm sure our hotel would have such information but I like to be prepared in advance...
Thanks again!

Hint if you have wheeled luggage... In front of the station there is quite a long flight of steps which would be a pain to carry bags up. But if you go up the right hand side of the station (as you look at it) there is a ramp which takes you right to the area in front of the platforms.

Caroline,
Thanks so much for the advice! I'm bringing a backpack but I'm almost certain my travel companion (who has a bad back) will have luggage on wheels!

acswift,

What is your hotel in Venice? Since the Grand Canal is an S curve, a "hotel near San Marco" doesn't necessarily mean that the closest vaporetto stop to your hotel is labeled San Marco. As others have mentioned, any number of other stops might be closer. We could direct you more specifically if we knew where you are staying.

acswift,

Your map made me laugh. You are almost equidistant from many different vaporetti stops because you are right in the center of that section.

From your hotel's official web site, here are the directions FROM the train station. Just reverse them to go the other way.

Get to the Venice train station of Santa Lucia, continue with vaporetto Actv line 1 or 2 (stops in front of the station) towards Saint Mark and get off after about half an hour at Vallaresso stop. Continue on foot along Calle Vallaresso, turn left, cross the bridge and continue on Calle Larga XXII Marzo. Turn right on the second street, Calle delle Veste, and go straight to Campo San Fantin where the famous La Fenice Theater stands. Turn right on Calle del Fruttarol: You will have arrived, Hotel Becher is at number 1857.

Here's the link:

Ellenem,
I had looked at the directions on the site, but when I tried to check the timetables on the ACTV site, it did not list the Vallaresso stop at all! I guess i've just had a lot of conflicting or confusing information when trying to research this, and I'm the kind of person that likes to have an idea of where I'm going before getting there, so I guess it's just bugging me! Once I get there and find the hotel I'm sure it won't be as big a deal as I'm making it out to be...

Answered my own question:
The stop is actually listed as "S. Marco Vallaresso"

YAY!

Your stop is an incredibly popular stop--don't overthink this and don't worry.
