Getting around Cote d'Azur

Hello,

We (family of four) will be staying in Nice for 6 days in August. We'd like to visit nearby towns. Should we rent a car or is train OK to see Cote d'Azur from Nice?

Thanks.

Nice is a good transportation center. Consider the bus as well as the train. And skip the car as long as you're staying on the coast.

Thanks. I'd rather not bother with a car.

We've done both, and both have their pluses and minuses, but as Mimar pointed out, Nice is a good transportation center and I think you'll be fine with the train and buses. Parking in Nice can be very stressful, so IMO you're better off without a car.

Depends on where you want to go, but for 6 days, you will find plenty of places you can visit by train. Parking is indeed difficult in Nice, and driving in August can mean sitting in traffic for long periods of time. I've just returned from the Cote d'Azur, and it was getting very busy on the roads, particularly along the bord du mer.
