Germany on TV

There is a show on TV right now about Germany. It started at 8 and runs until 9:30. The show is called "Germany" and is on public TV (WETA 26 in D.C. area).

It is filmed from a low flying airplane or helicopter. The whole show is flying around Germany looking at sights from above. Good commentary & the right amount. German music in the background. Great show. Interesting perspectives.

Saw something like this, but flying over Ireland, a few years ago.

I hope we get this here on our public TV in SF area. They have had the same type of show regarding both north and south Italy and it was fantastic.

Thanks for the info.

The title (according to weta.org) is
"Visions of Germany: Bavaria".

They are doing a fundraiser (donate $100 and get the vid/DVD).

For those of you in central Michigan the show will be on today, Sunday, at 5:30 pm on QTV from Delta College. I'll be there. Thanks for the advisory, mrwunrfl.

All of the PBS channels are using the "Visions" series during their pledge week activities. We had Germany on one of the channels not long ago and another is now showing Visions of NYC.

There are a whole series: Ireland, Italy South, Italy North etc - and all of the shows are excellent. Just look at the web sites for your local PBS channels to see which one is showing when.

Only $100? Our PBS affiliate wanted $120. Personally, while it was beautiful, I thought it to be a bit boring. I missed seeing the interiors of most of the places highlighted. And out local gal kept talking nonsense, with such comments as "when Ludwig walked into the river..."

I just checked Amazon and they show Visions of Greece DVDs for $19.95 and coming soon Visions of Italy for $29.95. There is no mention of Germany or NYC. I haven't seen the shows but they sound like the Over British Columbia and Over Washington videos from about 10 years ago. I enjoyed those and would enjoy seeing the European ones.

Thanks again, mrwunrfl. It was a beautiful show of sight and sound. I'll keep my eyes out for others in the series.
