I will be in Cologne for 1 night. Leaving early the next morning for Frankfurt Airport.

I am looking for a hotel close to the Cathedral and the train station. I was originally looking at the DOM Hotel (Le Meridian) and the Excelsior .. but unfortunately, they are a bit out of my price range. I am also interested in a smaller, quaint hotel as opposed to a Hilton or Marriott.

Any personal experiences/sugggestions out there?

Have you tried using a discounter?

I've stayed at the LeMeridien and agree..great location and not cheap (sometimes obtained at a discount).
You might, as one possibility, go to www.hotels.de and click on the English version and input your info...you'll be given several areas of Cologne to choose from and pick the Koln option.

There are links to websites provided..one way to do it.

I know there are <b>several</b>less-expensive hotels very close to the RR station and cathedral but, unfortunately, I cannot remember their names.

Thanks Intrepid1. I have tried hotels.de .. I'm looking for 110 Euros and under. I think the best rate I was able to get was 140Euros. I'll have to double check. I've looked at so many different sites that I can't remember what site said what.

Intrepid, I checked hotel.de again and The Dom hotel (le meridian) is 150 euros. Is there another discounter that is trustworthy that may have a cheaper rate? Thanks!

I stayed at the Four Points Sheraton for 119 euros. Breakfast was included for two people. The hotel is across the street from the train station. The rooms need a little refurbishing, but it was clean and the breakfast was quite a spread.
