cparris, we did the European Delivery thingy last June -- had a great time. The only glitch was we couldn't find the Harms Shipping Agent no matter how good our directions were. Had to have a taxi lead us there -- cost us an extra 30 Euros.

With 5 of you, I believe you can buy a family ticket for the S-bahn going to/from the airport to Munich. Check it out when you arrive. It'll save you some money. The ticket was good for the whole day on our day of arrival. There was an English speaking attendant at the station when we arrived Munich.

I'm thinking on planning a trip from Oregon to Austria/Germany/Switzerland. We would like to travel by car/train while in Europe. I don't have any experience on how to make arrangements with the logging, renting a car, etc. Should it all be planned and done from the States? Please HELP!

Agali,

Go to the upper left hand side of this page and click on "POST A NEW MESSAGE" and start your own thread.

Then ask your questions -- please be more specific.

Budman, did you do the tour? Was the Harms shipping agent where you dropped it off? We haven't found out about that yet? Where did you go on your trip?

cparris, The Harms shipping agent is near the factory where we picked up the car, but I couldn't find my way back with the mapquest directions I had. I could probably blame it on myself, but I just got turned around and every street looked like the other.

Didn't tour the factory. Just picked up the car on Monday morning and headed toward Alsace. Spent 4 days touring Strausbourg and the wine route. Did a couple days in Reims, France, the champagne country, and took a side trip to Versailles.

We headed back, spent a day in Baden Baden, a couple night near Fussen. Stayed here: http://www.neuschwanstein-hotel.com/hotel-rooms-rates/ Great breakfast and views. Spent the last 2 night in Munich.

It was only my wife & I. With the family, I would recommend Hallstadt, Salzburg, Garmish area (not necessarily Garmish itself) with Linderhof, Oberamergau, Ettal, etc.

If you are going to do Hallstadt & Salzburg, here is a place we stayed in between the two. http://www.vacationvillas.net/index....ntal/22001.cfm

Two full bedrooms/two full bath apartment. Clean, reasonably priced, people were great. Family was great & spoke English. Ask them to do the BBQ. 1/2 hour to Salzburg and 1 hr to Hallstadt with all the great little towns in between.

We got the 525I. I understand the 330 is full of pep. Happy trails.

The car is very peppy. We test drove it during a snowstorm and it did really well in fairly deep snow...the kids had a snowday. I am wondering how much we will be able to get into the trunk??

Question for Bob Brown...do you have the telephone number or email address for the bed and breakfast you stayed in in Heiligenblut? We will be there for one night in October and it sounds wonderful. Looking forward to hearing from you. Also, have traveled the Glossglockner (in 1985)and loved it. Heading to Dolomites. Any suggestions for neat place to stay near Bolzano?
