German rail experts,please help

Please tell me how to get the lowest rail fares for two seniors traveling from Bamberg to Prague. We plan to buy the tickets while in Germany unless purchasing in advance gives us a much better price. Also I have only seen trains with one or more changes and app. 6 hours travel time. If there is something better, please let me know.
Many thanks.

By train, 6 hours at 60 € per person was the best I saw, and there is only 1 connection that requires only 1 change other than an arrival at almost 11 pm.

The train becomes slow once it crosses the border.

On what day of the week do you plan to travel to Prague?

Thanks Bob, that is basically what I saw except I couldn't get a price.
Larry, our Germany rail expert, thanks for
checking in also. We will be traveling on
Thursday.

Unless that Thursday is some sort of national holiday in Germany, the Schönes-Wochenende-Ticket, which would be valid for travel into the Czech Rebublic as far as Plsen, will not be available. However, you can use a Bayern-Ticket for travel on Regional Rail to the German-Czech border. When you find your route to Prague, and where you will cross the Czech border, buy a ticket (Anschluß Ticket) from DB for the leg from the border to Prague. That should cost about €20 per person. Total fare that way from anywhere in Bavaria to Prague would be about €33-€34 per person. I don't think you can conveniently do much better than that.

If you don't have the DB ticket from the border to Prague, you might be able to buy it on the train, or you might be able to get off the train and buy it at the border. If you do, the Czech Rail prices to Prague will be much less.
