Hets - Edinburgh is no 1, but you're right, Glasgow doesn't feature.
to my shame I've never been to Chester or Durham.
but I do know and love Brostol - another notable exclusion, IMO. They have gone more for the pretty/scenic places rather than gritty cities, with the exception of Liverpool of course.

The light in Edinburgh alone is worth the trip (as the photo shows)!
I haven't been to Liverpool or Chester yet, but I had the good fortune to visit Norwich on my last trip a few years ago and had a great time. There is so much to see there historically and with the fantastic Cathedral, but there is also a great department store, Jarrolds, the kind that is fading fast in the US, and the unusual and enjoyable covered market in the city center.

Norwich? Liverpool? Piffle! I find it very difficult to agree with a list like that, voted for by people who were shipped there by the tour company they were with, or cruise line they were sailing on.
Chester is pleasant enough and has some Roman stuff, but the black and white Elizabethan looking buildings are far more recent. Durham is attractive and historic, but there's not enough to keep you interested beyond a day trip, as with Liverpool. I used to work for an Insurance Company with it's headquarters in Norwich and the staff I knew who worked there, couldn't wait to get to get away from the place! It's main claim to fame is mustard.
You can't argue with London,Edinburgh, Oxford, Cambridge or Bath. York for me is a one trick pony and a day trip at best.
