Garmisch to Eibsee by train

Does anyone know if we can take the Zugspitzbahn (train portion only) from Garmisch to Eibsee? We've been up to the Zugspitze before. We love the Eibsee and its surroundings, and would like to spend a few pleasant hours relaxing on the lake. Thanks!

Hi singfree,

The Bahn site shows a few options -- one is a cog-train from the Zugspitzbahnhof in GaP to the Zugspitzbahnhof in Grainau, then a 15-minute walk; another shows a bus bus continuing from the Grainau Zugspitzbahnhof to the Eibsee; another is a bus from GaP bahnhof to the Bushalt Grainau-Eibsee.

Have fun!

I took the Zugspitzbahn to the stop Eibsee myself. It's an enjoyable, relatively short ride. I took the bus via Grainau back, which makes a nice round trip.

Thanks all for the help...Ingo, do you recall how much it costs for the train to Eibsee? Looks like a fun & scenic trip!
