Gare Austerlitz to Gare de Lyon?

On my Spring trip to the Dordogne, I will be arriving in Paris at Gare Austerlitz in the late afternoon/early evening. I need to get to my CDG hotel from there. I've taken the Air France Bus from the Gare de Lyon to CDG several times. Is is feasible to walk to the Gare de Lyon from Austerlitz (with a rolling suitcase)? It looks fairly close on map, but maps can be deceiving.. or should I just plan on taking a taxi?

It's a fairly short stroll across the bridge at Pont Charles de Gaulle. It shouldn't take you more the 15 to 20 minutes, including waiting for the lights.

Hi Sue,

Enter your departure point and destination at www.mappy.com.

Change "Express" to "Pedestrian".

It will give you route, distance and time.

I've walked it before and its easy. In the event that it is raining there are also several bus lines (91,57,63) between Gare de Lyon and Austerlitz. It is faster to walk out the river side of the Gare de Lyon rather than the front to get to the bridge. If you take a taxi get ready for a screaming taxi driver.

Thanks for the replies. Morgan, the screaming taxi driver is one reason I thought maybe I should walk. Glad to hear that the walk isn't too far. I'm going to diligently try not to buy too much in the Dordogne so that my load isn't too heavy!

Ira, I've just been trying the Mappy "pedestrian" option. How great that is! Wish I'd known about that before some other trips. Thanks so much for the information. (I've used Mappy before, but never realized it did "the walks" for you, too).
