Galleria Borghese tickets

I've been trying for the last several days to book tickets for the Galleria Borghese on the online site they send you to. I must be missing something, because for about the past month, it has only shown dates up to May 18, and I need tickets for right after that (we get into Rome late on the 18th). Am I missing something with the website? Any hints would be appreciated. Thanks!

Copper, they don't list dates out very far into the future. My last trip to Rome was last month, and I wanted Galleria Borghese tickets for April 10th. I found I was unable to book them until very late March. My advice is to keep trying online every day until the date you want opens up.

Buon Viaggio,
BC

You're not missing anything; the site has not been updated.

People have reported success booking by phone at the number given. Or ask your hotel to call and reserve for you.

Thanks for the input- I was getting concerned. I'm staying in an apartment, so the hotel booking option won't work, but if my dates aren't up in a few days, I'll get a phone card and call for the booking. Thanks!

I think I might have to call... now no dates are available! We want to go on June 3rd. We're also staying in an apartment.

Will I be able to make a phone reservation speaking English (with a bon giorno and a grazie, the extent of my Italian)?

I just tried to get tickets for our trip, and the website says the Galleria is closed May 15, 16, 19, 20 and 21 to set up for an exhibit. Maybe the website is closed too? It is not offering any tickets right now. Please let us know if you are successful by phone.

Thanks!

I sent an email to the ticket site saying that the borghese site was not updating. They emailed me back to call them, which I did and booked
a date at end of may. It took only one minute by phone; I called from the US

When you phone for reservations, you first hear a recording that says "uno per itlaiano, due per inglese." That's "two for English" and you'll be connected to an English-speaking operator. All done in under three minutes.

This doesn't help the original poster, but our hotel was able to book tickets for us on May 29. The website has not been updated in weeks.

Oh, thank you copper and everyone else who replied - I have been trying the Borghese website for weeks and thought it just did not like my computer! It was a relief to read that the block-out was nothing personal (smile).

FWIW, I called today (Friday, 5/16) and got the English-speaking operator (thanks, kayd!), but she apologized and said I would have to call back next week. I guess they are now taking reservations only 2 weeks ahead? I was trying to book for June 6.

Again, many thanks to you all!

Karen

I tried this morning to call and get tickets for June 8th. A nice lady told be I would have to wait until May 27. Last week when I called about June 8, they told me I would have to wait until the 19th or 20th.

I was able to get on the Borghese site on Thursday May 22 and reserve tickets for the 1:00 admission. Oddly, my husband called that very morning and was told to call back next week.
For grins, I checked it out and saw the dates populated. It took me a while to navigate through the site, but eventually it worked. Good luck and Brockbank maybe we'll see you there!

We got our tickets by calling this morning. They are for 9:00 on June 8. I still couldn't get what I needed from the site, although it did show the date. It's funny liztexas would comment on perhaps seeing us there because often when I'm traveling, I look around at the crowd and wonder if there is anyone there with whom I've corresponded on-line. Anyone else do that, or is it just me?

Copper - Not sure how much has changed since our trip May 05, but we simply walked up and purchased tickets. We happened to be strolling through the park and thought, 'Hey. There's the Borghese. Let's check it out." Of course, some others who've been more recently could tell you whether this approach is still viable.

Hmmm. Never mind. I just read your dates and you're alredy gone! Please do share your report when you return!

The site is back up and working.

I can't believe it-- the Borghese Gallery is always closed on Mondays, so I booked a tour for that day. The week we'll be there, and only that week, they are closed on Tuesday (June 3rd) and open on Monday (June 2nd). Ugh.

On to rearranging our plans...

Tim and Liz - thank you so much for posting that the site was back up. I can't believe how easy it was to make the reservation now that it's working.

if you reserve through this site, do you pay for the tickets online or when you arrive?
