From Trondheim to Lofotr Viking Museum
I have to travel from Trondheim to Lofotor and the Borg Viking Museum at the beginning of August. The train will take me from Trondheim to Bodø.
Any suggestions as to the best way from Bodø to Borg?

The journey planner on www.rutebok.no suggests flying from Bodø to either Leknes or Svolvær, then taking bus route 100 to Bøstad where the museum is situated. It's a journey of at least four hours from Bodø. Hurtigruten might be a pleasanter alternative.

Geoff,
Thanks for that. I'm trying (where possible) to avoid flying. I'll be carrying medieval weapons. I suspect that security people might freak out at airports. I'm assuming that there's a ferry from Bodø to the island... and there would be a bus at the other end.

You can take a ferry from Bodo to Moskenes
http://www.torghatten-nord.no
The Hurtigruten stops at Stamsund about 7.30pm and Svolvaer around 11pm
There is an excursion from Stamsund to The Lofotr Viking Museum at Borg in Lofoten but it is a Viking Meal. I don't know if you could just take the bus journey but might be worth enquiring.
The Hurtigruten leaves Bodo (not a nice town IMO) about 3pm if I remember correctly.
A bus is waiting at the dock for the people taking the excursion. I think the bus journey was about 1.5 hours.

If the weather is good the boat journey would be wonderful as the Lofoten wall comes into view.
