Well after getting through to the New York consulate all I could get from them is "the rule is 6 months" "nobody here can say whether an exception will be made at the border"......so I guess I will forego Morocco this trip. Lessons learned the hard way and now I know about the 6 month rule.......
Now.....to see if there is any recourse with RyanAir but I guess those flights are just lost as they were non-refundable......

That is sad. But you have to do whats best for you.
There is no recourse on Ryanair, your cancellation is voluntary, they do not stipulate a 3 or 6 month rule for Morocco for nationalities that do not need a visa for Morocco. They are going by what Timatic states which is an IATA tool. Ryanair would not accept you for travel if they were concerned about your passport validity as if you were refused entry, they might be fined. They are pretty hot on that. But if there are any taxes, you might get a refund on those.
