Thanks the above guys, your opinions are good. I will think carefully before I go there. Maybe it will be wise to stay longer there, like 2-3 days.
Euro 110 for one person is not worth for a day-trip.
Thanks again.

You won't want to stay at Mt St Michel for several days. Yo could spend that time in Normandy - seeing other sights as well as the Mt. But to do it efficiently yuo really need to rent a car. There is not too unreasonable travel to and fro Paris. But travelging around Normandy to tourist sights by public transit is just not realistic.
You could easily stop and see Bayeux, some of the invasion beaches, Museum in Caen and a lot of sights in Rouen.

Stay in le MSM for 2-3 days? Never! It's tiny, really, really tiny, and you can see it all in a few hours at the very most. NO WAY you want to stay there for 2-3 days. I don't think anyone who isn't an academic or scientist studying it would ever do that. There's NOTHING to DO there once you've walked up and seen the abbey and all. Nothing.
You need a car and go traveling around the rest of Normandy/Brittany if you have 2-3 extra days. See what nytraveler suggests: Bayeux, Caen, the Mémorial Museum, the Bayeux Tapestry, the D-Day beaches, etc.

Or closer would be Dinan, Fougères, Saint-Malo, Dinard, Cancale (for their oysters) and beautiful stretches of rugged coastline on the Emerald Coast and Cap Fréhel. http://tinyurl.com/82azcyh

For anybody driving to Mont Saint Michel, you can now factor in a little additional complication starting next weekend (and this will be permanent, not temporary). The causeway and parking lot near the Mont will start undergoing demolition as of April 28th, so everybody will now have to park on the mainland and take the shuttle service out to the Mont. The bridge that will replace all of this will go into service around summer 2015, but parking will remain on the mainland permanently.
Can you imagine that there was actually a train line that went all the way to the foot of the Mont from 1901 to 1938?

To the OP, where else are you going on this trip if you can suddenly say, maybe I need to spend days at MSM. Now we are faced with telling you alternatives to THAT suggestion in the vicinity of MSM.
And dang, when Kerouac said they were demolishing the causeway, I thought back to when I went and the road was closed at high tide.
We were in Normandy for 6 days, and "thought" about cruising over to MSM, and "just couldn't work it in". That is also my feeling about Versailles in recent years. I really agree with NYtraveler. BUT everyone needs to decide for themselves, but now with the internet, you can get REALLY good advice on the possible outcome of a trip.
Kerry, really, St. Cirq gave advice. YOur travel choices are all yours--why apologize for them. She (and I am accused of the same thing elsewhere) is quite direct. She really doesn't need "to get over herself" in areas she DOES know about. WE all benefit.

"I think it is a bad idea to go to MSM on a one-day bus trip from Paris because for the cost of 110E, you're spending most of your day on a bus, with a little time on the Mont. I have yet to have a decent meal on the Mont in my 12 visits."
VS.
"And while I understand that le MSM is some sort of iconic French draw for many Americans, 110 euros and a 15-hour expedition from Paris seem utterly excessive to me.I would translate it to "Have an excruciatingly long, boring day on a bus for a glance at a historical site and a lousy meal, for a ridiculously high price."
It's the tone. They say the same thing. I'd feel like someone smacked the back of my head after the second.
