From Obidos to Sintra

check www.cp.pt (you don't need to read Portuguese).
In the right top there are 2 boxes, write Obidos in the 1st and Sintra in the 2nd and... voilá... you have all train options.
Warning1: These are slow, regional trains, but it might be funny to see all the local activity in small villages
warning 2: The train station is approx 1 mile from Obidos walls
warning 3: You have to change trains twice, there are no direct trains

Buses would probably be best if they run that route but you certainly can go by rail with one change:
Obidos to Cacem then change there for Sintra. Cacem, in suburban Lisbon has very frequent trains to Sintra, taking just a few minutes. Trains Obidos-Cacem take about two hours and run less frequently but there is good service. Obidos' sleepy rail station is cached away at the bottom of the walls (of one of Europe's finest walled towns) - buses if they go direct would be faster and go right from Obidos town center. Sintra and Obidos two fantastic towns!
