French Riviera-Favorite town?
What is everyone's favorite town on the Cote d'Azur. We are looking to stay there for 2 nights during our honeymoon. We like beaches, nightlife, shopping, restaurants, casinos...we are late 20s. It also should be a reasonable proximity to Nice, because we will be arriving there by plane.
Any suggestions?
THANKS!!!

For beaches and nightlife, shopping, and a general "buzz", but in a small town, I would choose Juan-les-Pins. We were just there last week - it's just a fun, easygoing beach town, next to Antibes, about 5 miles from Cannes (30 km from Nice).

Young happy couple looking for the best beaches & nightlife with daytime shopping & restaurants for your honeymoon......ST TROPEZ !!! Hands down, except for the casino.... you just have to drive to the world famous Monte Carlo, personally I would skip the casino! I like Juan les Pins, Cassis, Menton and even big sprawling Nice but none would stand against St Tropez for a honeymoon.

Cassis was my favorite although technically it is not on the Riviera - The Michelin guide book on the French Riviera doesn't even have an entry for cassis. Also, cassis is a tiny fishing village - if you are looking for nightlife, casinos, etc then nice would be your best bet. Villefrance sur mer is also beautiful and is very close to nice.

My favorite town has few of the things you mention I think where you continue on after this 2 day stop will make a difference on what you choose. St Tropez probably is the "best" for what you describe but it can be a 2-3 hour trip from the Nice airport depending on time of year. If, after 2 days you have to return to Nice then Juan les Pins has all you have mentioned but can be a bit loud and boisterous at night (if in season)because of all the nightclubs. Assuming you'll have a car, you could stay in Antibes and be close to Juan les Pins. Cannes is another option with everything you want plus reasonable proximity to Juan les Pins.
I've not been to Menton. While Bob likes it (and I trust his opinion) other posters have found it boring.
What's your budget, what's the rest of your itinerary like and will you have a car? It could help people advise you better.

I've never been to Cassis but from what you are describing and what others are describing it doesn't seem like a match. I would choose Nice or St. Tropez - Each are unique but offer the most of what you are looking for.
St. Tropez beaches are (IMHO) the best beaches in the area.
Nice has a special feeling all its own - it has the old part of town which is delightful, great shoping, nice market, and I really liked the beaches there (even though it is smooth rocks - you really need a pair of water shoes or strap on sandals to get in and out of the water at the beach - the rocks even though smooth, do hurt you feet as you challenge the waves to get out of the water.)
