First time to French Riviera
Hello!
I am planning a 4 day stop on the French Riviera in September 07.
I am debating between Nice, Cannes or St-Raphael.
Really I want a nice little romantic hotel, good location and by a nice beach.
I searched for about two hours tonight and didn't really find anything that hit the spot.
I am looking for that little gem, and I am sure some of you know one! Please provide suggestions and I will look them up

Nice does not have a nice beach. Sounds like a pun, but the 'beach' is made up of small stones.
You might try Antibes, a few miles outside of Nice for white sand beaches. From there head west to Cannes and it's pretty much all sand beaches.
Nice!

The beach at Nice may be made of small pebbles instead of sand, but that doesn't change the overall look of it. In fact, I prefer a beach with small pebbles because I hate having sand sticking to me.
We spent 3 nights in Nice last May and thought it was a very nice city to use for a base.
Antibes was a favorite visit of ours. Very charming Centre Ville, beautiful harbor, major yachts there, nice crescent shaped beach area.

Have fun planning your trip. We really enjoyed the Cote d'Azur.

I haven't been here, but it looks lovely, and the location is great; http://www.val-des-roses.com

Stella - Did you end up finding the gem you were looking for on your trip? We are leaving for our trip in a month and I still have not found a hotel in Nice that blows me away. Would love to hear if you found a wonderful hotel. Thanks!

I am still at awe of how breathtaking the beach water and shore is alongside the Promenade in Nice! Even though it is a pebbles beach, these are very soft and easy for walking and going into the ocean water. I strongly recommend Nice as your home base. ve been there twice and would not recommend the hotels I stayed based on your requirements (they fitted my requirements to perfection). If Nice is not for you, then try Villefranche Sur Mer nearby.
