Lynlor;
Do you call the Patriot Act a freedom enhancing bit of work?
Bush is gutting every environmental law we have on the books. He has not provided funding for the Gov. to go after all of these corporate criminals(Enron, Worldcom..etc). He will have us in a deficit up in the trillions.
No, I'm not a socialist, I want justice and equal representation for ALL Americans. That includes you, uncle, and everyone here even if they don't agree with my opinions.

Operaman

Thanks but I will rely on our elected officials to take care of the country. Your just mad that gore didn't get elected. The Republican's control the House and Senate and thats just the way it is. If you don't like it vote them out.

Makes you mad doesn't it?

well sam..on only a small scale if the 11,905 named buried at Tyne cot, the 54,986 unknown named at menin gate the over 130,000 unknown at Douamont Ossuray don't roll over ..not to mention the thousands of others buried beneath french soil don't all start rolling at once, I guess the reicter scale will be safe.
Why do Americans think they are the only ones who have suffered losses, why do they not know their leaders? Why can they not learn the lessons history is Tryimg to teach?

What lessons are we missing out on??? That European countries started the last two warld wars? That American money, food and supplies was the deciding factor in both wars.

Did you know that the French actually fired on our troops in North Africa killing several hundred, that we fought a naval battle with the French and won? Did you know that? The French were fighting on Hitler's side, talk about dumb.

Buzzy, I doubt very much if you will have a problem in France - the provincial French seem quite warm and friendly. I am going to the Loire Valley in May, and hope I am right!
Also, if I were British (which I am not), I would be extremely proud to have a Prime Minister like Tony Blair. If sticking to his principles leads to his downfall, what a terrific man you Brits will have lost. I happen to totally agree with Blair and Bush that Saddam has to go, and am so grateful that they are strong enough to stick with their convictions. I agree with some of the other posters than these anti-war people don't seem to have a solution, or at least don't present it very well.
Needless to say, I don't intend to get into any political discussions while in France - but do expect to have a good time!

Sue4

I agree with you, I went to France in Dec and am going back in May. I expect to have a great time. I don't blame the French people for their government.

Ah yes but Tony is NOT sticking by his guns...he's folding even as we speak!

Did you not listen to tonight's news?

Sam , if you were among the unread unwashed masses I would be happy to share with you, but you put yourself forward as well read , well spoken, educated, intelligent so whyever would I presume to try to educate you when there is a world of knowledge at your fingertips?

eric502;
Not mad at all pal, I always play with the hand I'm dealt. But I sure as heck can complain about the dealer and the way he deals. And you can bet a lot of us will be voting for a new one in 2004.
Till then I'll keep playing my cards as best I can.
Operaman

I kinda like the cards we've been dealt. We need the Republicans in office for a few years so you Demo's can go back to singing around the campfire and hoping for peace.

Just having fun with you

eric502;
Then stand pat while the economy goes in the toilet, your retirement disappears, the air you and your children breathes becomes worse and worse and the trillion dollar deficit your dealer is giving you. I'll keep hoping for better cards dealt to me by a dealer who is more responsive to the people playing the game.
Not one that owes his loyalty to the Casino.

"Then stand pat while the economy goes in the toilet"..........and exactly how is this the dealer's fault?

"your retirement disappears"..........
....And exactly how is this the dealer's fault?

"the air you and your children breathes becomes worse and worse"
............same arsenic content as Clinton!

"and the trillion dollar deficit your dealer is giving you."

The dealer cannot spend a single $!

"I'll keep hoping for better cards dealt to me by a dealer who is more responsive to the people playing the game."

While you wait some of us will be making something positive happen!

US

Operaman, hello

This thread is so off topic now, but my dishes are done ....so here I am again.

You mention retirement and pollution; what would you have the dealer do?

Regarding retirement, GWB inherited this problem. In the 90's everybody ( Informed or not) and their barber was wildy buying stocks pushing the prices up to astronomical P/E ratios, using borrowed retirement money to do so. Stocks are beginning to reach normal levels now.....slowly, but surely. Many of the uninformed gamblers have left the arena, so maybe stability will return..

You didn't mention CEOs, but I will. Their behavior is criminal, and clearly over half of them are liberal democrats. Their behavior was going on during the Clinton adminstration, but it is only now that we are beginning to do something about it.

As for pollution, IMO the bigggest problem is too many people in too small of a space. Can GWB stop people from doing what causes reproduction? I don't think we want to adopt China's method? What do you suggest that we do?

I'm willing to listen. If you have some good ideas, I want to hear them.
Lynlor,

1. The term "irrational exuberance was uttered to describe exactly what you mentioned. I lost a bundle, but I cannot blame it on anyoen...it happened!

2. The economy was in a recession when Bush took office and 9/11 certainly didn't help...the travel industry alone has lost over 250,000 jobs due to the events of 9/11. Don't buy that, then consider that USAir, United and possibly American will all be in bankruptcy protection soon!

3. Enron and assorted others did their dirty accoutning deeds before Bush got there. And Loral, the company that sold missile guidance systems to the Commie Chinese were fiends of Bill not "W"!

4. Deficit spending during a war is comon place. "W"is not the first President to do that!

US

'I am you and you are me and we are all together...but Paul is the Walrus kookookachu!

Of course we're not the same person...you're much smarter and better looking and I'm known on the board as a rabble rouser while you are the conservative voice of reason ...while I'm known as the ugly American...even though they really don't know me...but what the heck, I've got broad shoulders and I can take it!

And besides it makes them feel so "superior" to know that they can always feel embarrassed by me. As in, "oh Uncle Sam you represent all that's bad with America and I'm so embarrassed. Please everybody...not all Americans are like Uncle Sam, most of us realize how much better Europe and you Europeans are than us"!

So, any of you panty waste liberals need roused!

US
