The other option is to drive out to Hallstatt on Sun morning, and come back to Salzburg late afternoon and spend the rest of the evening in Salzburg.
Man, I've become so addicted and dependent on Fodor's that every travel decision I make I have to check with Fodorites! Thanks for all your great help though!

Question about Hitler's Eagle Nest. Even if you have a car, you still need to take a shuttle up there? And it costs 20 euros pp just for the shuttle? For 2 of us, it's like 40 euros, almost half the cost of our car rental. Is it that worth it?
Any other places with similarly spectacular scenery to drive up to, if we don't really care about seeing Hitler's resort?
