France with family of five
We are travelling to France in May with 2 adults, 3 children. Have booked 4 nights in Paris and are looking for another 4 nights in the Loire. My dilemmas are deciding on a village that is within a decent driving distance to Paris for our return flight on the Sunday morning out of Charles de Galle at 12 noon, where to rent a car, finding accommodations in the village opposed to a remote gite in the country. Please help!

Make it three nights in the Loire and one much closer to CDG. You have to count on being in CDG 3 hours ahead of time. Fontainebleau might be a possibility although I would not take the route suggested by Google which uses the ceinture, but would take a route farther east. The time give is about the same: 1h15m, and I would count on two hours. Can you get the family up at 6 to be on the road by 7?

In '09 we had the same situation as you have. We drove from our gite near Saumur to Chantilly - visited the chateau, and stayed in the town. Next morning, it was a 30 min drive to CDG.

Welcome to Fodor's. I agree that you should be closer to the airport on the day you are going to fly. StuDudley's suggestion is good. If you do decide to stay in Paris for the last night then find a hotel near the RER B line which will take you straight to the airport in the morning.
