France Weather Late April/Early May

We are considering a 14 day tour in France traveling by bus beginning May 3 through May 17, 2014. Would like to know if possible what type of weather to expect? Weather patterns are unpredictable but any replies would be helpful for us to finally decide. We do not mind wearing a jacket or layering a sweater with a jacket BUT no really cold weather.

Thank you

Weather patterns are unpredictable
You have answered your own question. This sort of question is unanswerable.
Someone will know doubt give a link to a weather history website. But even this will not predict the future patterns.
Besides France is a large, by European standards, country. Even more unpredictability to throw into the bag.
You cannot control the weather, so relax and enjoy your vacation.

There may be snowfall and temperatures around 25 degrees Fahrenheit at some alpine places, thunderstorms and temperatures around 75 degrees Fahrenheit resp bright sun and temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit in the South.
For Paris count with temperatures between 45 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

Thank you for your replies. September departure is now what we plan to do.

oh, well, I wouldn't expect May vs. September to be much different in terms of your weather expectations. It will be fine, and you shouldn't have any really cold weather (although if it's near the end of September, I did have one somewhat cold spell in Paris once at that time, I did need to layer a lot).

I second Christina.
Only differences: the seawater is warmer and all alpine passes are still open in September.

miglazer: I suppose you realized that you got such quaint replies because you didn't specify WHERE in France you want to go.
