France: SNCF Strikes Strand Zillions...

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/04/w...commuters.html

To update the French rail workers strike against SNCF read this - things are dire. Not only long-distance trains but RER commuter trains stalled. Gare de Lyon empty. And to continue 2of every 5 days - who will give in first?

And the gov't demands do not affect current SNCF workers but new hires - trying to trim benefits deemed by gov't as unsustainable (SNCF already loses billions a year) -things like lifetime job security - retiring in 50s with pensions based on best year earnings and subsidized housing not to mention fee train rides.

So it will be interesting to see who wins - right now who loses will be tourists planning train travel in France for the next few months as strikes are expect to drag on until May or longer.
