Best Relais & Chateaux hotel(s) in Switzerland
My wife to be and I are going to Switzerland on our honeymoon in early July. We greatly enjoy hiking (mild to moderate) and are looking to stay at an R&C hotel, hopefully in an area of great hiking and which we can use as a hub for car rides to other areas of the country for additional hikes. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Why rely on a car? Public transportation is excellent in Switzerland -- and it is comfortable and convenient. AND it will take you to some of Switzerland's magnificent car-free zones. For example, you might want to consider staying in Wengen, which is car-free but easily accessible, offers magnificent views (at least, from the better hotels), is a great base for hikes of the Bernese Oberland, etc. -- in other words, just about everything you seem to want EXCEPT planning around a car. Just a thought....

Relais et Chateaux is a French chain, not very popular in Switzerland. There are a few member hotels in Western and South-Eastern Switzerland, but almost none in the German speaking part of the country.

We loved Coeur des Alpes in Zermatt. I don't know the exact area you are looking for, but we would go back here - (in a heartbeat... Coeur des Alpes... get it?)

Of the ones listed, these would be our choices:
Hotel Walther, Pontresina
Schlosshotel Chastè, Tarasp
Hostellerie du Pas de l'Ours, Crans Montana
