France Arpril19-May 3rd

My husband and I will be travelling to France, staying with my brother in Quissac (near Montpellier) for 4 nights, will do day trips, then will drive to Paris. We have 5 days to get to Paris and were wondering about the best route tot ake, Bourdeaux to Cognac, Loire? Where shoul we stay? We an will end our trip by staying in Paris fro April 28th to May 3rd.
Advice?

Have you thought about spending those 5 days in Provence, and then taking the 3 hr TGV from Avignon to Paris??

If you want to move around more, spend 3 days in Provence, 2 in Burgundy, then take the TGV from Dijon to Paris.

I would not head that far west via Bordeaux or Cognac - for several reasons (mainly time, miles, and stuff to see & do).

I, too, wouldn't drive to Paris, and I definitely wouldn't drive as far west as Bordeaux and Cognac. I'd spend the 5 days in Provence and take the TGV back or head to the Dordogne and take the train to Paris from there after that or split the time up between Provence and Lyon and then take the train.

Great advice, If we are staying at my brother's (Quissac) is it is between Montpellier and Nimes. I assume that we will be seeing a bit of Provence during our 3-4 day stay with them but they do have a 5 and 7 year old so not sure how quickly. We will be leaving our children at home (we are in our 4o's) therefore the rest of the trip will just be husband and I. Should we still stay around Provence (enough to do for another 5 days?) or move a little more quickly into the Burgundy region. We are not really interested in the Cote d'azur, I was there years ago). Places to stay, eat?

I would just let the weather dictate your itinerary. There is certainly enough to do in only 9 days in Provence & eastern Languedoc.. You'll leave a lot of stuff un-seen. However, if the weather is nice in Burgundy, 2-3 days there would be OK - but I think Provence is a lot more interesting.

Take the TGV back to Paris from either Avignon ot Dijon.

Do yo have my 27 page Provence itinerary??? If not, e-mail me at [email protected] & I'll send you a copy.
