Forming a Travel Group---Advice?

We are trying to form a singles global travel group in Portland, Oregon. We would meet periodically to exchange travel ideas and to meet others interested in world travel. Has anyone been in such a group and can offer suggestions on how to proceed?

I would be careful not to allow any doctors who are married and have 2 much time on their hands to get involved--you will regret it.

I'm thinking the singles group portion takes care of that.

No, it doesn't--certain people just love getting involved, even if they don't qualify.

Janet, why would anyone take a shower, get dressed, drive, and socialize with people to talk about travel when we can sit around in our underwear and do it online : )

For expertise and leadership, only one address. Here's a quote from the king himself:

Author: Rex ([email protected])
Date: 09/28/2000, 11:42 am

Message: I might be interested in joining, or participating in trips if there is a subgroup nterested, and especially, if expertise is lacking, and leadership is desired.
Hi Janet...

I am in the midst of doing a start up travel group not necessarily for just singles, why exclude anyone? I have posted some messages on Fodors and Frommers and found that there are many people out there looking to get involved in group travels, mainly to save money, travel in a group and see the world. What better way is there? So, if you are interested in sharing your ideas and travel plans with a larger group, I plan on doing a chat line on YAHOO.com called TRAVEL GROUP in the near future. Please join us.
Happy Travels.
