Formia and Caserta

As we will be driving from Radda in Chianti to Sorrento, wondering if there is a place south of Rome we could stay for one night that would give us an easy drive to get to Sorrento to drop car by 12:30. Do not want to go in to Naples. Wondered about either of these two towns. Anyone got suggestions?

I was in Caserta last month and while I did not stay there, it did not feel like a place I cared to stay unless I am visiting the Reggia di Caserta.

How about dropping the car at Napoli airport and take a bus to Sorrento and spend an extra night in Sorrento?

I would stay in either Sperlonga or Gaeta.

Steve, you are very naughty! It was your photo of Paraggi that sealed the deal for me, so to speak, about going to SML. And now you have posted that photo, with the result that the word, "Sperlonga," is now blinking on my "future destinations" list!

There is a lot of great information on Sperlonga,Gaeta, etc provided by Steve, Waldo and others in this thread:

Hi Eks - If it's my fault that you eventually visit Sperlonga on one of your trips ... I'm happy to take the blame
