Sant' Agnello / Sorrento

I am looking for a hotel in Sorrento for next May - we plan to stay 3 nights and do one trip to Capri by ferry and then another day down the coast by bus. I have found a hotel that seems attractive (Hotel Alpha) but it is located in Sant Agnello - how close is that to central Sorrento - and the train station? Is it a separate stop on the Circumvensia?

It's a different station, but not far - one stop by train.

I stayed in Sant Agnello at the end of September - I was on a walking tour so did not choose the hotel. Unless there is a significant cost savings I would stay in Sorrento next time. Hotel Alpha looks like it is steps away from the Circumvesuviana train in Sant Agnello. It is convenient to get to Sorrento from S.A. either by train or bus, but would be more relaxing for your day trips to already be in Sorrento. You will have more choice of a night life also in Sorrento, not much going on in S.A.

Sant Agnello is quite a way from central Sorrento. It is possible to walk, but not something I would want to do after a night out. It is also a quiet sleepy area as previously mentioned.
We have stayed a couple of times at Michelangelo Hotel.....highly recommended!
