Fonte Bertusi

We have had Fonte Bertusi on our wish list for a few years and it looks like 2016 will be the year we finally get to Tuscany to spend a week there.http://www.fontebertusi.it/en/

Love to know if anyone has stayed there recently, I have a few questions. We would like to eat dinner out a few times, are there any restaurants nearby that we can walk to? Very conscious of the drink driving laws and enjoy a glass or three of wine with dinner.

I believe Pienza is about 5kms away, is it a reasonable walk on a road or pathway? We love walking and hiking so distance isn't a problem. I am guessing the closest supermarket is in Pienza? Are there some nice walks we can do from Fonte Bertusi when we don't feel like driving? We are treating this week as a chill out.

Any particular apartment worth requesting? We want somewhere to be able to sit and have a coffee, wine and read a book so a lovely sitting area outside with some shade would be perfect.

Thank you

If you enter it in the search, you should turn up quite a few that have stayed.

Google white roads Val d'Orcia and you should come up with some walk/hike info (some you have to open gates, etc.). You could walk to Pienza during the day, but I wouldn't do it for dinner.

Thank you kybourbon, I did search but couldn't find what I was after.

Great tip on the white roads, I will give that a try.

Why wouldn't you walk for dinner? I am curious. Are there any cabs that we could use to return to Fonte Bertusi?

Pienza is tiny. You can walk side-to-side in the historic center in 5 minutes tops. The roads in the countryside are narrow and curvy. Fine to walk off to the sides during the day, but wouldn't want to do it in the dark.

This one is in Pienza.

This one is more sightseeing, but says they do transfers to train stations so perhaps a ride back at night.

The tourism office in Pienza should have some maps for walking the area.

Thanks again
