How long will you be there? Do you want a hotel or an apartment? Will you be renting a car? What kind of amenities are important to you?

When we were in Tuscany in 2011 we stayed in Monte Follonico, which is about 10 minutes from Pienza. Initally I wanted to stay in Pienza, but the B&B - Follonico, had such amazing reviews we decided to give it a try. It is absolutely amazing. Fabio and his wife Suzanne are the hosts and are absolutely wonderful!! Looking out over the vineyards you can see Pienza on a nearby hill.

I do hope you are renting a car though - if not then this would not be a good location for you...

Do you want to stay in the towns or in the countryside? In Pienza, it would be hard to go over $200 a night. There are only a handful of hotels, several B&B's and several apartments.

Hotels in Pienza:

Chiostro di Pienza (in historic center)

San Gregorio (across street from historic center)

Rutliano (5 minute walk to historic center)

Piccolo (across street from center)

Corsignano - (2-3 minute walk to center)

Arca di Pienza (5 minutes walk to center)

Thank you all for your great suggestions. This will keep me busy for awhile checking these out.

Adoc86--Last time when my granddaughter and I were touring this area, I drove in and out of Monte Follonico and I thought it was charming, but due to lack of time was not able to explore it. In looking at the map of the surrounding area I couldn't find or remember this town's name so thanks for your info and help.
Yes I will be driving as it is the ONLY way to get to this area.
