Flying with Meridiana - are taxes really 104 Euros?

I found a great deal for a flight from Florence to Barcelona for 29 Euros each (we're 2 people).

However, when booking, they add a charge of 104.18 Euros for taxes and charges, on top of the 4 Euro "admin fee", which is obviously acceptable.

Does this make sense? Does anyone know a less expensive way to fly from Florence to Barcelona one way?

Thank you,
Susan

Taxes are never that high, but many non-US airlines impose large "fuel surchages" while keeping advertised fare low. It's basically a fraud.

Always compare final purchase cost for any ticket.

Hi S,

Check fares at www.whichbudget.com.

Don't bother with whether add ons are appropriate. It's the final price that counts.

104.18 Euros for two people? Yes, it is "normal".
I am flying to Dublin with Ryanair in two weeks for 5 Euros both ways.
Total damage including taxes and an extra levy for registering one suitcase : 76 Euros.

Very little of taxes & charges are taxes, probably 25% at most - most of it is so the airline can display very low headline prices and then they stuff you for wheelchair use, baggage, & toilet paper (last one is a joke BUT just you wait...). T
