Flying Alitalia
Any experience flying with this airline? I've read of financial and strike concerns. Want to book for a Nov. trip but wondered if we shld pay a bit more for a more stable (is that possible in this industry!) Airline. Your thoughts/exp are appreciated! We'd be flying into Milan and switching to Czech Airlines to get to Prague.

I flew Alitalia to Italy last summer and I am booked on them again this coming summer. I was also concerned about strikes/going out of business but found that they have actually setteled with most of their unions and they look financially viable, at least for this year. I had asked a similiar question before I got my tickets back in March and got several replies with links to articles but I can't find that thread now. But if you search the general web you might find some articles. Anyway, it's impossible to predict one day strikes very far in advance, but I was convinced they won't be going out of business at least for the next year or so. As far as service, etc on the actual flights they were as good as any other airline I've flown in recent years.

hi there, i flew Alitalia in Sepember last year and they were wonderful on time and food was great - flight attendants friendly but when i am going back i think i will pick an airline with more stability as they had me pretty streessed out with the one day strikes that they had had the couple weeks before i left.
