I stayed in S M ligure several days and loved it - just loved it - still a real fishing town where the bringing in of the day's catch is a site in itself - very close to Portofino - we did a lovely walk over the hills to Portofino - you could walk along the sea too and there are buses and boats too.
S M Libgure a sweet base from which to hop to the Cinque Terre as we did or to Portofino or other gems in the area.
