Florence Restaurants

Can someone recommend an outdoor cafe for a casual dinner very near the Ponte Vecchio (we are staying at the Degli Orafi) for my elderly mother and me. We don't want to walk very far from the hotel (mom's legs aren't what they used to be) -- pasta and a glass of wine would be good.

Ask your hotel clerk about Osteria del Porcellino. It is just steps from Ponte Vecchio and has an outdoor patio. It is medium priced 8-16 euro for pasta. My daughter is home for a few weeks from living in Florence and I just asked her and this is her recommendation. Enjoy your trip.

Hi T,

Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco,
43 Borgo San Jacapo
Very pleasant atmosphere. Good, but not outstanding, food. Interesting local wines.

A few steps from the bridge on the Duomo side is Buca dell'Orafo, on the narrow street, Vota dei Girolami. Very good food, not expensive. Walk under the arch between the Uffizi and the Ponte Vecchio. Closed Sunday and Monday.

For anyone who is mobility impaired, Cinghiale Bianco is a bit of a distance to walk from the Ponte Vecchio..it is much closer to the Ponte San Trinita, which is the next brige to the west.
