Florence neighborhood - Hotel Bellettini

I know this is fairly near the train station. Does anyone know if it is in a safe neighborhood for walking at night or alone?

We have reservations there. It gets high reviews both here and on Tripadvisor.com.

It felt safe to me, although I was not alone. It is not "next door" to the train station.
I hope you enjoy your stay there; we thought it was a great place!

Grandmere, did you stay in the main hotel or the Annex?

In the annex; it was a lovely, spacious room with large marble bath. That was in 2001; I forget the price, maybe around $150? Bet it's way higher now. Great location.

Our reservations are for the annex. Rick Steves gives a warning stating the rooms in the main hotel are very nice and they try to push the annex. I found they were honest with me about the cost of the rooms and the annex rooms were higher. They were very responsive to my emails and we really look forward to staying there.

I'm sure the rooms in main bldg. are perfectly fine; we requested the annex after hearing from friends who had stayed there. In one guide book I read that the main bldg. is a 2 star, whereas the annex has characteristics more commonly found in 3 stars.
I don't think you will be disappointed with it; have fun!

It's in a great location, my wife and I felt very safe in the area at night - lots of other hotels and restaurants around to keep it active at night. However, if you are alone I would suggest that you stay in the main hotel, not the annex. To get to the rooms in the annex you have to go through an inner courtyard which at night you might find creepy on your own.

Kmowatt makes a good point; it is a rather circuitous route to the rooms in the annex, and I probably wouldn't want to do it alone at night. As I remember, you have to unlock 2 doors before getting to your room.

Thank you all for your comments. I feel reassured and am staying in the main bldg. I know the annex has nicer rooms, but I'm hoping the rooms in the main bldg are not too bad or too small.
