Florence Business Hotel?

My traveling partner has suggested that we stay at the Florence Business Hotel http://www.hotelflorencebusiness.it/en/default.htm on our September 2010 trip. I'm concerned about the price being awfully cheap for what they advertise as a 4-star hotel? It's 75 euros a night. I did try to search the forums here and also at SlowTrav before posting this question, but couldn't find any info. Are any of you familiar with this hotel? Yay or Nay?

Thank you!

leslie

Hello Scrleetdz, not familiar with it at all but looking at the map and their location you will not be in Florence. It wouldn't appeal to me. Are you going to Florence for a business conference and will it be at that hotel or are you going for a nonbusiness trip? If so I would find a hotel in Florence.

Nay. The hotel is closer to Scandicci, not Florence which is one reason it's cheap. Scandicci has an industrial area and there are lots of business hotels, but you don't want to be there unless you are visiting the factories/businesses.

Well that's good to know. Thank you. How about the Bellevue House? http://www.bellevuehouse.it/ It does get good reviews at Trip Advisor and is only 35 euro per person, per night (no breakfast)

You could walk to most things from that hotel, but that area (on that side of the train station) can be a bit sketchy in spots although it seems to be closer to the Piazza of Santa Maria Novella which should be ok.

It seems you want to spend about 75€ a night for the two of you. I've stayed at the Alloro which is between the train station and the Duomo. They might be in that price range. I got a better rate by e-mailing and asking about availability than using their online booking.

If you start a new thread asking about a budget room in central Florence, you will get more responses. Put your budget per night and dates.

In my humble opinion, after the advent of the 'tranvia' connecting Florence to Scandicci also the many business hotels and villas like www.hotel-florence.net are quite interesing as you can get downtown in Florence by means of few minute train-travel !?!

To me, it's like visiting NYC, but staying in Jersey. The hotel the OP listed is not on or near the tram line. It's an autostrada location.

You will want to stay in central Florence. There are hundreds of hotels/b&b's to choose from in central Florence- no reason to stay outside the city at a business hotel. I've sorted this Florence map on the venere.com site to show hotels in a good, central area for under $70-

You can also look at the Palazzo Pitti locations (click on the arrow next to Duomo at the top). Also, use the arrow next to Hotel to switch to B&B's. Even if you do not choose one of the Venere hotels or B&B's, this will at least give you an idea about central areas of Florence.

The florenceby.com site has a similar way to chose a hotel/b&b-

And here is a B&B site-

Good luck!
