Florence- Accademia or Piazza del Signorina area?
Hello. Does it really matter much where you stay in florence in terms of proximity to the sights? I am under the impression that most of the city is accessible by foot...I am undecided as to reserving a bed and breakfast in the Accademia area(cheaper)or one near the Piazza della Signorina ..Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi romsy,
It might not matter where you stay if you ride the buses.
http://www.ataf.net/Default_EN.asp is the site for the Florence bus system.

Florence is extremely walkable and quite compact so if you stay close to the Accademia, it really is not a problem at all. Lodging around the Piazza della Signoria is, naturally, a bit more expensive. You don't have to worry at all. If you stay close to the Accademia, don't forget to check out San Marco and Piazza della Santissima Annunziata/Ospedale dei Innocenti with the roundels on the facade by della Robbia. Very nice.
