flights to Paris

Right now air fare, Providence to Paris, in April (school vacation week!) is close to $800.00..........do you think there's any chance I can get it for less?

Airfare to Europe has been really high lately. Even for winter, the fares from a couple of years ago are gone

That being said, there are two things you can do you find the cheapest trip.

1) Look at leaving from an alternate airport. NYC is about 3hrs from you, right? Boston 1hr? Really good fares from those cities.

2) Go to farecompare.com and check the fares there. You can't book there - they just tell you the costs. But you can easily see what the rates are by week and day (in case you have any flexibility) and easily see cheaper fares from nearby cities.

Week before and after Easter is high season often for airlines - Europeans get two weeks off and lots of folks are trans-Atlanticking it at that time. That said i'd wait before paying $800 at this time.

farecompare - I see nowhere near the prices that site reflects on any of the airlines' own websites.

Travelnut, remember that farecompare is not a booking engine, so does not calculate things like taxes which can be $100-$150 extra.

It's best uses are to see a) which airlines are the cheapest and b) which times of year are the cheapest.

You can also see prices to different cities so can make easy comparisons about where to fly into...

Hi B,

Have you tried www.kayak.com and www.mobissimo.com?

Try 1 -800 -fly -europe
You can call them direct. They have exceptionally nice reservationists. I used them last year to book our flight to Paris in April and paid about $550 per ticket (about $200 less than other airlines at the time).

I wish I could find a search site where one could put in a European destination and search fares by different U.S. departure points.

(I usually have enough points to fly to a domestic hub, but not enough for overseas. )
