First Visit to Paris, Need Apt Help
Hello!
We need your help, and expertise. We are planning our first trip to Paris for next June, and we'll like to rent an apartment.
I have already made several inquiries to a number of agencies and only two have returned our emails. One agency has replied with the following comment: ‘ As your starting date is so far in advance, I am unable to send you listings at this time. Owners prefer not to confirm too early, as they are afraid of cancellations.’
However, once I decide on a trip, I like to get the apartment and airfare squared away, in particular if we are using FF.
On a happy note, I found a listing on VRBO, and much to my surprise it was one of Pascal’s listings; if we decide on his listing, we’ll feel that much more comfortable given the positive comments he has received on this board – not including the NY Times article.
Anyhow, we have narrowed our list of apartments to the following; please help us decide; we don’t mind climbing stairs and an apartment without a/c is OK with us; the requirements are: it has to have a nicely-equipped kitchen since I love to cook (yes, even on vacation), and so, close to markets will also be ideal. Natural light, centrally located and of course a comfy bed. We initially wanted to stay on Ille St Louis, but the apts we liked the agency has not returned our emails and the other one is not taking reservations until March 19th 2008. So, in terms of location we would like to stay on the 4th.
What are your opinions on the following apts in terms of location to local attractions, supermarkets, bakeries, and safety walking at night, etc? The one on 37 rue St Paul since to be the best value. So far, I have received confirmation about availability on #1 and #2.

Thank you so much for your help!
BTW: thank you for all of the good information so far, in particular the link to .pagesjaunes.

We are renting first week in October from www.rentals-paris.com. We booked last March. Take a look at their website. Very fast responses from them.
