first trip to europe

My husband and I are taking our 3 teenagers to France this summer. Initally are meeting their aunt and uncle in Provence for a few days (they are renting a large house). From there we are on our own. I was lucky to get ff miles tickets roundtrip to Paris. Can anyone suggest an itinerary? Would the train from Paris be best or should we rent a car?

It's really hard for anyone to suggest an itinerary until we know how long your trip will be, if you plan to stay in France, what your interests are, etc.
You'll get a wealth of information here but you'll have to help out a bit!

Just to help you out...it would be helpful to know WHERE in Provence you need to be in terms of deciding the best way to get there from Paris.

Depending on your interests you may be able to do everything by rail but that can be limiting.

And there will be other questions I suppose to include where to rent the car; to include a stay in Paris in the itinerary, etc.

Hopefully we'll hear more from you...

Hi B,

Welcome to the forum. I agree with the other posts. Do yourself/us a favor and do some reseach on your own. Read travel books, make a budget, lists your interests and complete your own initial itinerary. THEN come back here and start a new thread such as "First trip to Europe, please critique my intinerary". Then ask for suggestions/help.

A fair bit to do in and around Paris and possibly even a day (or two) trip to London by train. Use the metro there.

From Provence, get a car as there are lots of interesting places on the nearby south coast, and maybe even a trip into Italy or Spain.
