Dukey and I have been looking at that. Found a website that said yes. Dukey found a review that said no, but it was from 2005...so...my suggestion would be to fax, e-mail, or call the hotel and ask. I of course did not give it a thought because in the middle of winter, was just not what I was needing.

I have e-mailed the Ldy Hamilton to confirm (hopefully once and for all) the air conditioning status.
I know there are more than a few hotels in Stockholm which are not air conditioned to include the Rival, the Adlon, etc.
If I hear back in within the next 24-48 hours I will post what I have learned.

Dukey, please do. Inquiring minds MUST know!!! Actually, I really DO want to know because IF I'm going to recommend this hotel to people that will be traveling in the summer months, I would like to know that. Thanks and will be waiting to hear back from you.

We exchanged homes with a family from Stockholm last August and spent an evening with them at the end of the exchange. We discussed humidity and summer heat at length as they spent the 3 weeks at our home in DC. They commented that humidity was really not a common concept in Sweden and according to them they had no word for it in Swedish. We NEVER needed A/C, in fact, it was wonderfully brisk most days.

I guess people are thinking about it more this year because of the unusual heat many places in Europe, as well as here in the US. I know, I was shocked when I saw some of the temps in Copenhagen and Stockholm...like mid 80's a couple of times. I think it usually doesn't get much above the mid 70's or close to that.

If I thought it wouldn't get above the 70's AND I hadn't gone to the "history" function on www.weatherunderground.com and seen those past humidity levels for Stockholm (no word for the concept notwithstanding) I wouldn't be quite as concerned, especially since we will only be in the city for one night!
I remember back in 2000 when we were looking for a room in Hanover, Germany, for the World's Fair" and I inquired directly to a prospective hotel about A/C.
They wrote back and said it wasn't needed because you could "open the windows."
Well, we stayed there and it was VERY humid and even with the windows open it wasn't all that pleasant at night.
To make matters worse there was a newly-built SAS hotel right next door that was air conditioned and I knew nothing about it...lesson learned.

We were in Lund, Sweden a few years ago in September. Granted, our room was several floors from ground but it was extremely hot and stuffy without AC.
We stayed at the Hotel Gamla Stan in Stockholm and it was great. We also did the ferry to Helsinki which I would highly recommend. Get the day pass which allows you to hop on and off the trolley to tour the city. It is very well organized. There is an ice cream shop in Gamla Stan that makes waffle cones. The smell alone is worth returning for!

OK...here is THE answer from the Lady Hamilton:
"Our rooms on the top (4th) floor are all air conditioned.
The rooms on the other floors however, are not.
Please let us know if you wish to reserve a room or have any further questions."

Re the AC issue - I was there last week, quite a hot month in Europe as a whole. While it was quite warm in the daytime, it cooled off very nicely at night, I just opened my window and the room was cool in a short while. I had the heavy curtains closed at night since it gets light out around 3 am, and I was not overly hot without AC.

I was in Stockholm last week also and I did not find it particularly humid. I live in N.Cal where it's not humid so I would have noticed if it were. We did not have AC in our room but they did provide a fan. Stockholm has moved waaaaay up in my list of favorite cities. Enjoyed it much more than Copenhagen but that was perhaps because I was traveling with a Swede there and was alone in Copenhagen.

With the greatest of respect for EVERYONE IMO if you needed a fan you could have used A/C but that's just me and if it worked for you then that is a very good thing.
I can only repeat the weather statistics garnered from www.weatherunderground.com and to me 67% humidity is not "low."

We'll be going to Sweden next August and thanks for the tip about the hotels in Stockholm. We're going to Gotland also and would like to go onward to Copenhagen after leaving Gotland. Does anyone know HOW to do this? Are there trains going in that direction? buses? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

hi: I was reading with interest. What would be the weather the first week in June? What would be the best way to get to Stockholm from St Petersburg? I noticed you mentioned day trips to Helsinski. Can one take a day trip to Copenhagen? Thanks for all the help.
