First time to Italy
My wife and I will be going to Italy in the beginning of June. Of course we want to get the cheapest rooms available (yet safe) where we at least have our own room to ourselves. Can anyone recommend a hostel, convent, or albergo in either Rome, Venice, Milan, (or any small town too..like Assisi, Siena, etc.)?
We thought about renting a car, but it seems like I would need to more brave to do so. I hear the train pass is the way to go. We are starting from Rome, then maybe see Naples or Sorrento, up to a town or two on the way to Venice, then either Florence or Milan, then back to Rome for last couple of days. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated

You have left this very late and may have trouble finding anything available.
Suggest you:
do a search here for posts
check out venere.com
Get busy with emails and faxes ASAP.
Or you may find that the cheapest rooms available are $300 per night.

Hi A,
>I hear the train pass is the way to go. <
Highly unlikely.
Check prices at www.trenitalia.com vs the railpass.
