Fiat Ulysse for 6 + luggage
I am considering renting this vehicle and am wondering if we will fit with our luggage. We are planning to pack as light as possible with probably 4 carry on wheeled pieces, one larger suit case and our totes which we can carry in our laps if needed. This van holds 7 people so I'm hoping along with the little bit of space in back and stacking luggage in the extra seat, we will fit...tightly!
I do not want to rent the Fiat Ducato if we do not need to. There are four elderly people in this group and they all have no interest in having two cars. Two of them have never been out of the country so they probably want to be attached at the hip!
We will be picking up in Rome and traveling to Chianti with day trips around our base. This is the reason I'm concerned about the size of the Ducato.

Hi TD,
You will be squeezed on the trip between Rome and Chianti.
On daytrips, you won't have your luggage.
You might want to take the bus from Rome to Siena and pick up/drop off your car there.

I believe there is a rack on top in case it's needed. Friends had rented this minivan last summer: 2 couples each with a toddler in child seat. They had so much stuff they ended up lashing some of the kid's stuff on top for their departure. The rest of us were giving them a lot of grief about being the Beverly Hillbillies, and amazingly, most of the Italians who had stopped to watch the packing festivities knew all about the Beverly Hillbillies and thought this was hilarious. Small world!
