Fez to Melilla to Malaga Spain

Hello everyone,

I have been looking all over the net for the quickest, and most economical way of traveling from Fez Morocco to Melilla. I would love to take the overnight ferry from Melilla to Malaga Spain, but I can't find a way to get to Melilla except for an expensive flight between Fez and Melilla. Does anyone have any suggestions about a possible train that might go between the two cities, or maybe a bus?

Thanks

Not so easy. Try entering Fez/Nador transport and see if you can get anything. From what I understand Nador is a town in Morocco just south of Melilla and the transport between Nador and Melilla is a matter of an inexpensive taxi ride. It should be fairly easy to get from Fez to Nador. Hope this helps.

The overnight train is a good option however then I would be in Melilla for one full day with all my luggage waiting for the ferry that leaves for Malaga really late at night. Does anyone have any other suggestions of how I could get from Fez to Melilla in the middle of the day? Any other bus companies? How much do Grand Taxis cost? I know that it is a 5 hour trip so it must be expensive!

You might do better asking this on the Africa board. Or on Lonely Planet's thorntree. My 2007 Lonely Planet Morocco says that the bus fare for Fes to Nador (two a day, six hours) is 80 Dh, maybe you can calculate the taxi fare from that - Meknes is 18 by bus and 14 by taxi, Rabat 60 by bus and 55 by taxi. But who knows what gas prices have done to the fares since LP went to press? LP also had detailed info on getting to/from the border at Melilla, you might want to consult a copy at your local library/bookstore.
