Jeanab - Naples-Positano is a JETFOIL service which runs twice per day through the summer until 30/9 - weather permitting.
Departures are at 08.45 and 13.50 from Molo Beverello.
The fare is € 8.00.
Journey time - 1 hour.
Hope this helps ...

The Jetfoil was a gas-turbine hydrofoil developed by Boeing around 20 years ago. They have never operated in Italy. The fast craft serving Napoli and Positano are Italian- or Russian-built hydrofoils, catamarans or monohulls. It doesn't matter much as you won't be offered a choice of fast craft; on some routes, you may have the choice of a ship or a more expensive fast craft, but that is all. Between Napoli and Positano, there are only fast craft, so be prepared for delays or cancellations if the weather's bad.

Can you buy the tickets on the ferry or you must make a reservations..?
If I fly directly to Naples, I would arrive around 3:45 pm, or I can fly to Rome, arriving around 7:30 AM, take the Eurostar to Naples and from there the ferry to Positano..
Not matter what I decide, is going to be a tiresome voyage leaving from SAT( texas)..and not able to sleep in the airplane...
What do you think are my best options?

Kismetchimera - The Metro del Mare jetfoil leaves from Molo Beverello - about 10 mins. by bus or taxi from the main station.
You buy tickets at the Metro del Mare kiosk at the dockside.
Note that there are only 2 departures per day.

I repeat what I said earlier. There is no "Jetfoil" in Italy and there never has been one. The word is not used on the web site of Metro del Mare or on that of any other operators in Italy. You can get a fast craft from Napoli to Positano, but nobody will have schedules for next year yet.

There is indeed a direct bus between Naples and Positano: see schedules in www.sita-on-line.it
You can take the train from Rome to Salerno and then the ferry boat to Positano. See my posting:
Rome to Positano the FAST way
This is actually easier than connecting in Naples.
