Ferry- Naxos to Santorini

Am I correct to assume that my husband and I don't need to prebook tickets from Naxos to Santorini on Saturday, Septmember 3 of this year? The ferry holds over 1400 people and I'm thinking there will be room for us.

Yes, that's correct. Just buy them on Naxos before your departure.

Yes, Brotherleelove is correct. There are six ferries going from Naxos to Santorini on Sat, Sep 3rd, ranging from the small passenger-only SeaJet 2 to the huge Blue Star Delos, which holds 2,400 passengers. Blue Star, which originates at Piraeus, drops off most of its passengers on Paros and Naxos, so is never full on the last leg to Santorini.

Blue Star Delos is the most reliable and comfortable ferry, and has a large outside deck where you can stand to take in the scenery, while the smaller catamarans have inside seating only. You will want to be on the outside deck during that journey, so all you need is an economy ticket. Naxos to Santorini is, IMO, one of the most beautiful ferry routes in Greece.

Let me add, there are seats on the outside deck of Blue Star Delos, so you don't need to stand all the way. If you want a reserved seat you can pay a few euros more for an air seat in one of the inside lounges, and can still go to the outside deck part of the time if you wish. In either case you can buy the tickets when you get to Naxos.

Thank you, Heimdall. Based on everyone's earlier advice, we are flying to Naxos from Athens and from Santorini back to Athens. The short ferry trip from Naxos to Santorini will be more than enough boat for me!

Sounds like a good plan! If you don't like sea travel then definitely choose Blue Star Delos over the smaller ferries.

Just to let everyone know, flying from Athens to Naxos and from Santorini to Athens worked out well. Would never consider the long ferry ride.
