Ferry from Trieste to Venice?

After several days in the Dolomites the end of October, we're thinking about dropping down into Trieste and maybe Piran. From there we're off to Venice for several days, and I'm thinking the best way to first see Venice is from the sea. Can anyone share insights on taking a ferry from either Trieste or Piran to Venice?

There are no ferries from Trieste to Venezia because there are roads and railways: trains run every hour and take about two hours. From the Istrian peninsula, several vessels offer summer excursions, but most of these will have finished by late October. The only one I can find still running is the catamaran PRINCE OF VENICE which is due to run on Saturdays from Izola to Venezia:
