Ferry from Samos to Santorini

Hello,

In early May 2006, we will be taking the ferry from Turkey to Samos and want to take another ferry to Santorini. I can't find any ferry information from Samos to Santorini. Also, is there an overnight ferry I can take from Santorini to Athens?

Please help.

You can't get there directly, but you can take a ferry from Samos to Naxos or (Paros Naxos is closer to Santorini) and then another ferry to Santorini.

www.gtp.gr

You'll have to wait until sometime in April to get the schedules for May.

To be honest you will be passing two islands that are much more worthy of a visit than the tourist trap of Santorini, namely Samos and Ikaria, both are on the ferry route to Piraeus. However if you wish to go to Santorini you will need to change ferry usually at Mykonos after Ikaria but it does vary a lot so basically play it by ear (other possiblities are Naxos, Paros, Syros).

There is an overnight ferry from Santorini to Piraeus, Lane lines about 2 or 3 times a week, maybe another by May. You will have to ask in the ferry agents on Santorini.

Thanks Retsina and Brotherlee. Since our time is limited, we will pass up Santorini and pick only one:

Mykonos
Paros
Naxos

or maybe as suggested, Ikaria or Samos

Which one island has the best bang for the tourist buck, for beauty, good food, and overall experience? I was thinking Mykonos was good for seeing Delos. Any other thoughts?

i think naxos is the better choice you can go straight there from samos.. its a large island and has everything great beaches its not as lively as mykonos but there are some lovely bars there
